Insights from the 2023 Remote Working Summit in Dallas

We may not have flying cars or teleportation technology just yet, but when it comes to enabling our people to work remotely, I’m proud to say that “The Future is Now!”

Last week, I had the privilege to speak at the Work from Home Alliance 2023 Remote Working Summit in Dallas, Texas. The mission of the summit is to give leaders from organizations across the country a forum to discuss ideas that improve the work from home and hybrid work experience for their respective teams.

Jon Bunch presents at the 2023 Remote Working Summit.

I’ve had the pleasure of presenting at the summit for a third time now, and it was amazing to be able to share how Prime Therapeutics (Prime) has been a leader in this space with its Hub and Home flexible work program. In fact, our leadership in this space prior to the pandemic enabled our organization to quickly transition to remote work when many others were unprepared to support their business or their workforce.

I was surprised to see so many representatives from the health care industry at this year’s summit. A presenter from BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee shared their story of how the pandemic forced them to adapt and expand their talent footprint outside of potentially restrictive geographic footprints. Other firms spoke to challenges in attracting and retaining top talent in a work from home world.

In my opinion, leadership engagement, communication and transparency are central elements to supporting remote teams. My challenge to leaders with remote teams: find your voice.

It’s not just about making videos with costumes and music – although I find that formula works for me – I believe that when leaders bring their authentic selves to work, their teams tend to follow, as well. And I’m proud to work for an organization, like Prime, that supports and empowers teams in our work from home world.
