Standard actions regarding major weather events
Recent wildfires in California and winter storms affecting the southeastern United States have resulted in States of emergency being declared for various impacted areas. With that in mind, Prime Therapeutics (Prime) is providing a few reminders about our standard actions regarding major weather events or other developments that could pose significant barriers to medication access.
What we’ll do to support clients and members
Provided are standard actions we’ll take to ensure a consistent service delivery.
Ensuring access for members
Prime will support members who are affected by adverse events and unexpected pharmacy closures that affect their access to medications. For members impacted, Prime is prepared to:
- Implement a Dynamic Prior Authorization (DPA) override upon client request.
- Leverage our Home Delivery and Specialty Pharmacy operations as needed to minimize disruption.
- Contact retail pharmacy chains requesting closure information and will continue to assess their availability.
Meeting home delivery and specialty pharmacy needs
Regardless of which home delivery and specialty providers your plan works with, Prime and our vendors have the following safeguards in place:
- Monitoring of adverse weather events to determine possible impacts to patients and shipments.
- Contingency plans to provide 24/7 coverage for urgent patient needs, including pharmacist consultations, shipment to alternate locations and retail fills when and where possible.
- Monitoring of shipments and proactive management of packages where deliveries are expected to be impacted by adverse events.
Prime is in regular contact with our home delivery and specialty pharmacy vendors and will provide updates as needed during adverse events.
